Why You’re Not Getting Airbnb Bookings Right Now (and 3 Steps to Diagnose the Problem)

But before you panic, it’s important to figure out what kind of slowdown you’re experiencing. Are you not getting any new bookings, or are you simply not seeing forward bookings? The difference matters, because the solutions are not the same.

Here are three steps you can take to identify what’s really happening with your listing:

1. Run a Visibility Search

Check whether your listing is appearing as normal in Airbnb search results for your location and settings. Sometimes platform updates or back-end glitches cause listings to “disappear,” which can nearly always explain sudden drops in bookings.

2. Compare Occupancy Rates

Look at how your Occupancy stacks up against Similar Listings in your area. If everyone’s down, you’re dealing with a Macro- Factor (economic or travel patterns shifts for example). If you’re the only one, the issue is lands within your listing itself.

3. Review Booking Lead Time

Guest behavior has shifted significantly in 2025. In many markets, booking lead times have shortened, which means guests are waiting longer to commit. If your calendar looks empty, it may just be that bookings will come closer to the travel date.

When bookings suddenly slow down, it’s easy to feel desperate. But by unpacking where the issue lies, you put yourself back in control. Instead of reacting blindly (over-discounting, rewriting your whole listing or giving up altogether), you can take focused, proactive steps.
